Red Ball is the classic 2D physics platformer where you roll a determined red sphere through 75 levels of spikes, pits, lasers, and an army of evil black squares bent on turning the world into a cube. Push boxes, flip levers, ride moving platforms, and bounce off seesaws to solve environmental puzzles, then land on a square's flat top to squash it — just do not touch its sharp corners. Each world ends with a boss fight, and every level hides three collectible stars that unlock later stages.

Roll, Jump, and Outsmart the Squares

The controls are straightforward: A/D or the arrow keys to roll, W or Up to jump, and S or Down to brake. But the level design turns these simple moves into a full puzzle toolbox. A running jump off a slope carries you twice as far as a standing hop. A wooden box pushed against a wall becomes a ledge. That same box dropped on a pressure plate holds a gate open, and slid in front of a laser blocks the beam long enough to slip past. Every object in a level is there for a reason — the trick is figuring out what it is before the spikes figure out where you are.

The evil squares come in several flavors. Standard black squares patrol flat ground and die to a single stomp on top — just avoid their pointed corners, which kill on contact. Bulls charge at you the moment you enter their sight line and take more precision to dispatch safely. And at the end of each world, a boss square brings unique attack patterns you have to read, dodge, and counter using the objects scattered around the arena.

Five Worlds, 75 Levels, and Three Stars Each

The game spreads its 75 levels across five themed worlds — green hills, deep forests, dark caves, industrial factories, and more — each introducing new mechanics and enemy types that build on what came before. Every level hides three stars, often tucked above the main path, below a ledge, or behind a puzzle element most players roll right past on the first pass. Stars gate access to later levels, so exploration and replays are baked into the progression. Collect all stars, beat every boss, and chase the Diamond Cup achievement for the full clear. With three lives per run and checkpoints scattered through longer levels, the difficulty escalates cleanly — forgiving enough to learn on, sharp enough to demand real platforming skill by the final world.
